Australian offshore wind farms planned
Madrid-based BlueFloat Energy's proposed facilities are the 1.4 GW Hunter Coast Offshore Wind Project off Newcastle, CNBC reported. The 1.6 GW Wollongong has announced the Wollongong Offshore Wind Project, which will span two sites off the coast of New South Wales, and the 1.3 GW Greater Gippsland Offshore Wind Project, planned for the Gippsland region of Victoria.
In the statement, it was stated that the Hunter Coast and Wollongong projects will use floating wind technology, while the Greater Gippsland power plant will be fixed to the seabed.
"Offshore wind power is booming globally and now is Australia's time," said Carlos Martin, CEO of BlueFloat Energy.
