Renewable energy will be the priority sector in the Western Anatolia Free Zone
According to the statement made by Aegean Free Zone Founder and Operator AŞ (ESBAŞ), in cooperation with Batı Anadolu Free Zone Founder and Operator AŞ (BASBAŞ), Energy Industrialists and Businessmen Association (ENSİA) and İzmir Development Agency (İZKA), “Renewable Energy A New Investment Area for the Stars of the Industry in the Focus of the Sector: Western Anatolia Free Zone” meeting was held.
Chairman of the Executive Board of ESBAŞ and Western Anatolia Free Zone Founder and Operator AŞ (BASBAŞ), whose views are included in the statement. Faruk Güler noted that the region with an area of approximately 2.4 million square meters will provide direct employment to 20 thousand people when it reaches full capacity, with an annual trade volume of over 4 billion dollars and exports of over 2 billion dollars.
Stating that BASBAŞ will try to attract companies that create economic value and have high employment capacity by making value-added production with medium and high technology, renewable energy, Güler said, “Renewable energy sector is one of the sectors that we will prefer in line with this target. If Turkey makes the best use of its renewable energy potential, it will both strengthen economically and support environmental development by creating green job opportunities. BASBAŞ will enable it to play an important role in the green development of the country and will especially encourage the clustering of renewable energy investments in the region.” said.
